Doctor Update (Sorry its a little late)

Well on the 24th I went to see Dr. Tucker. I had to chug a glucose orange drink which tasted horrible! The test came back fine thank goodness! I noticed that the baby wasn't moving as much as I thought he would be after drinking all that sugar and Dr. Tucker was concerned also. She made me stay another hour and I had to drink another sugary drink to see if it would get him moving. I only had two kicks in that hour so she sent me over to see Dr. Maher for another ultrasound just to make sure he was ok.

Dr. Maher told me that the baby had cord restriction again and admitted me to the hospital for the night so they could give me IVs, oxygen, and monitor the baby. That night was soooooo long! The nurse had a hard time finding my veins cause I was so dehydrated. She ended up having to put it in the back of my hand which didn't hurt at the time because she numbed it (thank goodness cause she had to wiggle the needle all over my hand to finally stick the vein). I looked over at Ben while she was doing it and he was staring at the floor looking like he was gonna pass out. I was thinking ooooo no....if he can't handle this, how is he gonna handle the birth!

I had cords coming off almost every body part....had the IV and O2 sat. on my left hand and a blood pressure cuff on my right arm, oxygen up my nose, and the heart beat and contraction monitors on my belly. I had to lay in the bed motionless on my back so that the heart monitor would stay on....it stopped every time I moved and was sooooo hard to find again. The doctor wanted a pure urine sample so the nurse comes in with a catheter and I was in full panic mode! I was like nooooo really I can give you a clean sample....I promise just don't stick that thing in me! She let me pee in a cup and I was forever grateful. I know if I have to have a c-section I'll have to have one but not that day.

Needless to say I couldn't sleep hooked up to all that stuff, having to lay motionless, and having the nurse come in every hour. At 3 am she gave me a sleeping pill and finally I got some rest for a few hours. In the morning we had to wait for the doctor to make his rounds which was expected to be around 7-8 am. Eleven o'clock rolls around and the nurse told us that he came by the nurses station and looked over everything and said they would call when they could take me in for another ultrasound. So we thought Ben would have plenty of time to go home and let the dogs out and come back in time for the ultrasound.

A few minutes after he left they called and said they were ready for me so they shipped me off hospital gown and all to his office which was on the other side of the hospital. I sat in the waiting room forever feeling naked and like the room full of people were looking at me cause I was in a hospital gown and socks. The ultrasound came back way better so he discharged me and set up another appt. with him in a week. He wants to see if the fluids are gonna last that long. It seems no matter how much I drink it just doesn't affect my hydration so I'll probably have to keep getting the IVs.

I also have to do a kick count everyday. I have to write down how long it takes the baby to move 10 times in a day. So far he has been moving like crazy! After I came back from the hospital I put on a white night gown which was tight over my belly and sat on the couch. Bella and Gidget (two of our three yorkies) were sitting on the couch next to me staring intently at my belly. The baby was making my belly morph into all kinds of shapes. They just sat there moving their heads side to side wondering what in the world was wrong with my tummy. hahahaahahaha! It was the cutest and funniest thing ever. I wish I would have gotten it on tape.

Yesterday Ben and I went to the only baby store here in Pensacola and bought a baby mattress, mattress pad, and his coming home outfit. His outfit is white overalls (all one piece) with a few tiny blue whales on it and the hat has the little whales on it also. Its sooooo cute! I'll try to post a picture of it. We put the mattress in his crib and it fits like a glove! We have to wash his bedding and then we will be able to set it all up.
