We had a great day yesterday...5/21/11! We met Suzanne and Natalie in down town Pensacola at the Plaze Del Luna....water fountian play park area by the water. Gavin had a blast. It was his first time there and he loved playing in the fountains and meeting up with his friend Natalie. She was just adorable in her pokadot bathing suit and pink sun glasses. Gavin use to wear his hat and sunglasses but he has discovered taking off his clothes so I'm happy just to keep them on in public these days. They shared snacks and but sharing toys Gavin hasn't gotten the hang of yet. At the end of our time there he started to share giving Natalie back her toys she brought. We will definately have to buy a bucket and shovel for our next visit.

Gavin is back from his visit with his Nana and Papa. He had a great time! He has been cracking me up all day. Here are the picks from today.

He loves talking on the phone and will carry my cell all over holding it up to his ear and jabbering and laughing away. Its too cute!

He loves to take the cushion out of the chair and crawl over over it.

When the dogs saw he was on the floor they attacked him with kisses. They love Gavin!

He would climb up on the chair and balance on his belly on the arm of the chair and flip over. He made me laugh sooo hard!

Easter 2011

We had a great Easter this year. The Easter Bunny came and left Gavin lots of goodies! Nana and Papa came over...we ate, had a egg hunt and relaxed. Gavin is 18 months and is climbing everything in his path! One day we thought he was playing nice in his room. Ben went in there to check on him and he was up on his changing table covered with desitin. He had it all over his face, body, table, walls....was a mess but we couldn't help but laugh. Time to child proof the drawers he used as a ladder. He is 22lbs and growing! He is constantly doing crazy things to make up laugh. His Nana and Papa took him back to MS with them for a week or so. Last night we kept thinking we heard him but then remembered he wasn't here. Sooooo quiet without our little booger. Here are some pics from Easter!

In the morning Ben got Gavin when he woke and I had the camera ready. He walked out of his room and had the biggest smile on his face and ran down the hall towards me. Its soooo nice to see that smiling face in the morning.

This is one of the first things he does when he wakes up...he finds his shoes and usually brings them to me to put them on for him.

I know its been forever since I updated but its finally here! Gavin is making us laugh everyday. He does funny and sweet things all the time and yes he has tantrums now. lol He is now 17 months and 21 lbs. He is running all over the place now and his favorite things are his squeaky shoes, lids for just about anything, and his little doggies Elle Vira, Gidget, and Bella. He also loves opening the door to our bedroom and running in there like he just won the lottery. He does things on command now (well when he wants to do them) touches his head, ears, mouth and eyes when asked where they are and pants when asked what a dog says, meows when asked what a cat says and moos for a cow. He loves songs and dances throwing his arms up in the air and running all over the livingroom. He loves Mickey Mouse Club House songs and show, Imagination Movers concert, and his papa's ring tone on his phone. He loves riding his tricycle which is in the house....good thing we have wood floors! He will hop on it himself and push himself with his feet backwards and forwards. He also will scoot his way over to us when he wants to be pushed around. He tries to get out of trouble by working his eyes and giving kisses. He doesn't say too much more than he has been....Hi, thats good, thank you, and I know I'm leaving some other words out. He started saying ut oh when he falls down or something falls on the floor. He has been waking up later which is great for me since Ben isn't able to work from home anymore....around 7ish and takes 1-2 naps (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).

He spent a week at his Nana and Papa's house and had a great time. They said he was a good little boy and no trouble at all. When we picked him up he was eating lunch and I don't think he realized we were there. He looked at us like who are you and then he smiled and hugged and hugged us. Ben and I felt like we were dating again during the little break....we went shopping, out to dinner a couples of times and to a movie.

After he has his bath and milk he likes to stand up on the couch and see how long he can stand up without touching the back. Of course I'm usually sitting right next to him and Ben on the other side. Don't worry Grandparents!!! When he does it he has the biggest smile on his face and giggles. He is starting to bounce a little too.

Here are a few new pics of Gavin. He is growing so fast! He is doing all kinds of new stuff. He just learned how to open the french doors to our bedroom, he grabs our hands and leads us to what he wants, he says hi in a way that will just melt your heart, he loves giving kisses and when he knows he is in trouble he works those lips, he is very persistant, and he loves putting lids on containers (keeps him busy forever). He loves playing in his wagon and teasing the dogs with crackers. Enoy the pics!

Here are some pics from January. We went down south for my Memaw's funneral so there are a few of the family and Gavin. When we came back up my mom did a tasting at our house for our cousin Amy's wedding coming up in March. Terri, Amy, Matt, Aunt Judy, and Gavin's Nana and Papa were all here to taste it. It was all yummy and we were all stuffed afterwards. There are also some pics of Gavin recently taken before he went to his doctor's appt for his cold. He got his first cold after Christmas and it went away for 3 days and it some how got passed back to him. Ben is the only one not sick right now. I think I have the flu...Blah! It was freezing here last night....this morning I took a pic of all the frost and ice all over the hay field across from our house. Thought it was pretty and would share.

Thanksgiving

We had a great time visiting with family down south for Thanksgiving. Gavin loved all the love and attention he got from everyone and he loved the yummy food! He started doing all kinds of new things while we were there.....he would put his finger to his lip and move it up and down and babble, he had loud screaming contests with his cousin Bailey, he grabbed my hand and led me to where he wanted to go which was the kitchen at mom's house (he loved playing with the cabinet doors), he had a playdate with my friend Rachel's little girl Lily who is a few weeks older, and he loved when Papa was teaching him how to play guitar.

Gavin's First Phrases!

Gavin said his first phrases yesterday! I was passing him my cell saying "here ya go" and "Thank you" when he passed it back. Then out of the blue he passed me a bottle lid & said "Here ya go" and "Thank you" plain as day. Ben looked at me and asked did he just say that? He kept saying it over and over....even my mom got to hear him say it over the phone. It was awesome! He also says Daddy and Mumumum. He is growing up so fast! He isn't walking on his own yet but he is getting there and will be doing it in no time I bet! He crawls all over the house! He loves going full speed into our bedroom straight through to the bathroom and pulling up on all the handles on the cabinets. He loves opening and closing doors and he rather feed himself than have mommy or daddy feed it to him. Its so cute when he wants to come and sit beside me on the couch....he crosses his legs and leans back to watch some of his shows.....melts my heart when he wants some cuddle time with me. He is something else!

Gavin's First Halloween Costume

Gavin is going to be a lion for Halloween this year. We wanted him to be a lil monster but he screamed bloody murder when we tried the costume on him. This lion costume is just a vest with a hood so he tolerated it more than a full body suit. It looks soooo cute on him! I'll post pics of him in it when Halloween rolls around. Last year he was in the NICU for his first Halloween so we put him in a Halloween onsie. Here are a couple of pics of him last year on Halloween...he was sooo tiny!

Here is the lion costume! He looks sooo cute in it!

The onsie only came in a new born size so we tucked it around him and rolled up the sleeves to fit him. You can see how big the leg holes were on him. He was 3lbs 5oz in these pics. He wasn't even eating from a bottle yet. Awwww memories! I was so happy when we finally were able to bring him home!

Gavin Brushing His Teeth for the First Time

Here are some pics of Gavin brushing his teeth for the first time and of him all dressed up to go shopping. We brushed his teeth first and was shocked that he let us...usually he doesn't like you messing with his mouth other than putting food or a spoon in it. We gave him his toothbrush and he started brushing his teeth just like he had been doing it for years. It was so cute. Ben and I were cleaning up the bathroom and I grabbed his little bottle of toothpaste and Ben was like whats that? I said its his bubblegum toothpaste and he said oooo I just used regular toothpaste on his brush. I was wondering why he made some crazy faces when we first put it in his mouth. lol He has two teeth on top and two teeth on bottom and I think he is teething again.

When we were going shopping the other day we put some of Gavin's new B-day clothes on him. He looked soooo cute I had to take some pics. His Nana and Papa gave him his shirt and is Momma gave him his pants, and his Aunt Jackie gave him his cute mickey mouse shoes. This was the first time Gavin took off his hat...he usually keeps them on.

He is loving all the toys he got from his b-day. He plays with them all. His room is a crazy mess now because of all his new toys. We are gonna have to get him a toy chest soon. Some of the new things Gavin has been doing lately are: Shaking his head no.....I'm not sure he understands what it means yet, putting both his arms up in the air when he does something good, he waves hi and bye, making humming noises while his mouth is closed usually when we are walking him around, grabbing/pulling our hair....ouchie, sticking his tongue out, making growling noises, he likes to open and close things like doors and books, gives kisses on command and spontaneously, loves blueberry pancakes, sausage, grits and eggs....he really doesn't say no to any foods, sliding off the couch feet first thank goodness, playing with and chasing the dogs, and turning off light switches. He loves watching Mickey Mouse Club House and we bought him the Baby Can Read package which includes, flash cards, videos, and books going up to 5 levels. He loves the flash cards and watches some of the videos. The books aren't hard and they flip open to show pictures so he is a little rough on them right now. He goes to the doctor for his one year check up on Oct. 25th. Can't wait to show her Gavin waving hi and bye to her....she told us last time she wants to see him do it on his next visit.

Gavin's 1st Birthday!!!!!!

Gavin turned one years old today! I can't believe its already been a year already. Time flew by and now our baby has grown into a one year old! We had his birthday party at our house in the front yard. I really enjoyed planning and making all the goodies for his birthday. It was hard work getting everything pulled together for it but in the end everything turned out great! Family and friends showed up and we had a great time. We had tons of food and I think we gave everyone a sugar high from all the sweets. Gavin was great all day. He loved playing with everyone, eating his smash cake and opening up his mountain of gifts. He finally tuckered out after the gift unwrapping and took a nap in Lauren's lap. After he woke he was ready for more! Good times and good memories. Thanks to everyone for coming and all Gavin's gifts! Enjoy the pics!

Gavin loved the swing his great grandma Big got for his birthday. My mom and dad had brought up a bench swing frame the last time they were up here which we used to put the swing on for now till he gets a big swing set. He loves to swing! Gavin is all over the place these days! He has learned to clap, bang toys together, and dance. He loves crawling over anything and everything. The dogs have started to notice him more and not run away when they see him. He thinks he is a puppy and crawls right over to their bed. When they see him coming they get up and start licking his face to deter him from invading their bed. Its sooooo funny! He ducks his head and changes directions most of the time so it works!
Last night we were all on the couch watching a movie. Gavin was standing in my lap and I was looking up at him thinking aw what a cute little baby I have. I blinked my eyes and then SPLAT! I felt a big splash of wet, warm slimy goo cover my eyes and drip down my face. I freaked out but laughed all the way to the bathroom with my eyes closed, washed the goo out of my eyes and took a shower. Babies are the best! hahaha We are switching him over to milk slowly.....ounce by ounce every week and I guess it finally affected him last night. Other than that he has been doing great with the new change. Here are some pics of Gavin crawling and moving all over the place!

Gavin has been visiting his Nana and Papa over in MS. since Sunday.. Sept. 12. We have been missing him sooo much but I bet he is having a great time. He was a little cranky the first day he was there but we have heard good reports since then. Its so quiet here without him. I keep thinking I hear him cry....yes I'm a nut! Just missing my little baby and can't wait to go get him on Thursday. He is definitely going to get kissed a million times and probably have the poo squeezed out of him.

Last weekend we went to Nana and Papa's house. Gavin had a blast! He was crawling all over the living room playing with his toys and his Nana. He wanted to walk back and forth between Nana and me holding onto our fingers. He is going to get to stay over there for several days in a week and I know he is gonna love all their attention. Today we experienced our first car breakdown with Gavin. I thought it was gonna be craziness but he was actually really good. We were out to pick up something to eat which we thought was gonna be really quick & cheap and it ended up taking hours & costing 90 bucks for a new battery. Luckily a man, his wife and grandson helped us or we probably would still be sitting there. Gavin was great the whole time. I got him out of his car seat and he played with the car keys in my lap and was a happy camper. Good thing he didn't need his diaper changed or we would have been in trouble! I didn't bring anything with us not even my purse. Thank goodness it had been raining earlier and it wasn't as hot as it had been outside. After Gavin was fed and bathed I was rocking him to sleep and was kissing him and for the first time he kissed me back. My heart melted! I was putty in his little hands after that. I think I rocked him a little longer tonight than I have been. It was great.

Play Time Before Swimming

Gavin was soooo cute posing for pics the day we went to my dad's eye check up and to Aunt Judy's house. Before we went swimming he was playing on the floor and when he saw the camera he started posing....leaning back and putting his hand on his hip. lol He even did this in the pool on a float. Cracked me up so had to share....trying to get the float pics but they were taken on a phone.

Gavin update.....Gavin is growing and growing! Seemed like he got heavier over night. He is starting to out grow of his clothes and we upped the size of his diapers because he was leaking in the middle of the night. Now the diapers are too big and he is still leaking....we even changed brands....blah! Gavin loves when we put our feet up on the coffee tables and let him walk between them. His new thing instead of walking from the couch to the table he turns in circles and every time he faces us he will squeal and laugh. He also like sliding his legs apart almost in a straddle and then pulls back up on his feet. He does something new all the time now. He picks up his little puffs with his fingers, holds his bottle when he wants to...so spoiled, army man crawls pulling his body with his arms, and is eating more and more regular food. If he sees you drinking out of a glass he makes these crazy growling noises to let ya know he wants some and if you don't hear him he will move his lips to your glass for a sip. When he eats he lets us know if we are not shoveling it in fast enough with growling or shrieking. He absolutely loves being tickled when its time for a nap or bedtime....his facial expressions when I do it is sooooo funny...his lips quiver. He is still getting up in the middle of the night but there are those rare nights when he sleeps all the way through. The other night he woke every hour. Gavin hasn't popped out any teeth yet and his new smile reminds me of a little old man...he roles his lips inward and smiles. Hope to get a good pic of it one day. Gavin's First 4th of July

The family came up for the 4th of July this year. Mendy and Gene weren't able to make it but we took lots of pics for them to see the fun they missed! lol Mom, Dad, Jake, Katie, and Bailey came to our house and stayed for a week....Nickie and Freddy came up with them but had to go back after the 4th of July weekend. For the 4th we all went over to Aunt Judy's house. She had a packed house and we partied till way after the fireworks show in her front yard. Everyone played with Gavin, danced on the wii, ate good BBQ, swam in the pool, shot off fireworks, and talked and danced some more. Gavin had a blast and passed out on the way home in the car. Good times! Here are the pics from that day.

My First Visit with Aunt Heater

We went over to Nana and Papa's house to visit with the family. It was Gavin's first time seeing Aunt Heather, Uncle Jason, Becca, Kyle, and Seth. Heather was soooo excited to finally meet Gavin. Aunt Pat and Big came over also. We all had a great time! The boys had fun playing poker with Ben and we all played apples to apples and had a good laugh. Heather fed Gavin a bottle for her first time and Becca made Gavin laugh sooooo hard....he had a case of the giggles! It was sooooo funny! Today Gavin, mom and I went to the family reunion (on my dad's side). Afterwards we went to Aunt Judy's house and went swimming. Gavin's cousins (Paige, Jenna, Lauren, and Zane) had a great time swimming and playing with Gavin. The water was warm and cooled us all off from this crazy heat! Gavin loved the pool and his floaty. He was kicking his little legs, moving his arms, and tried to put his face in the water. He loved being lifted up out of the water and plunging back down in it. He could have stayed in the water all day and been completely happy. My little fishy!

Our Day in Foley, Alabama

We went to Foley, Alabama the other day to celebrate mom's birthday. We went to Lambert's for dinner and it was packed! Gavin wasn't happy about how loud and crowded it was so we kept having to take him out in the lobby to calm him down. I eventually just took him outside and strolled him around the back parking lot until he fell asleep. That night he slept the whole night without waking.....we wore him out. Before we went to dinner we took some pics of him in Dad's hotel room (he has a crew picking corn in the area so he has been staying there until after the 4th of July). Aunt Judy drove over with us and we all had a great day.

Katie bought Gavin this cute Mickey Mouse onsie while she was at MGM for her school trip. Here are the pics I promised to put up for Katie! Gavin loves the gift....he says thank you Katie! We have been freezing apple juice in hopes it will calm his sore gums. At first he didn't want them anywhere near him but now he is enjoying them. Can't beat ice pops on a hot summer's day.

Gavin is teething big time! We have bought and have been given just about all the teethers out there. Out of all those teethers the frozen bagel is the winner. He loved it as you can see in the pics. We also got him a couple of new toys....a peekaboo toy and soft blocks. He concentrates sooooo hard on closing the little peekaboo animals...its so cute. He loves knocking the blocks down and Ben likes to put them behind Gavin while he is sitting up by himself to buffer his fall. He was cracking us up...every time he started falling he would kick his monkey toy and it makes this whoa whoa noise like it was talking for him. We have took some videos today I'll have to upload them later. Here are the pics!

Gavin's Amazing Trick

Gavin is practicing to be a circus performer! lol I was letting him grab at the beach ball and he started grabbing it with his hands and feet. My little monkey! I just had to get it on camera.

Last night he slept in his crib all night long! Every time before last night when we would put him in his crib he would scream when he realized he wasn't in his bassinet. His bassinet is small so it doesn't allow him to turn over in the middle of the night. I was getting worried because he is 15lbs now so 5 more and he would be too big for his bassinet. I hope all goes well tonight in his crib.
Today he started putting his knees under his body while playing on his belly.....he is getting close to crawling! Ben and I were so excited when he did it. He mumbles mamammama now (I don't think he has linked it to me yet though but glad he is starting to say consonants) and he stretches out his arms to reach out for us to pick him up. He has had apples, peaches, bananas, pears, and sweet potatoes. His favorite is bananas.....he goes nuts for it grabbing at the spoon trying to shove it in his mouth. He has gone through his fruits now so its on to vegetables....I know I'm doing it backwards but wanted him to get use to opening his mouth and closing his lips around the spoon and its more likely he will like sweet fruits to encourage it.
He is still teething but no teeth! I hope they pop out soon! He gets sooooooo cranky when his mouth starts hurting. I know they have teething drops and pills but it has belladonna in it which is a poison so not gonna give him that even though everyone swears it works. We read on the Hylands teething drop website that a baby had a bad reaction to it but didn't state details only said how long they have been in business and blah blah blah. We are sticking to Tylenol and orajel.
Gavin is more demanding now than ever. He wants you to be with him all the time now. No more letting him play on his play mat and getting some cleaning done. He is going through the mommy and daddy leaving anxiety stage. When I start to get up off the floor to go to the bathroom he starts crying cause he knows I'm leaving. lol His face and cry is sooo cute you can't help but laugh when he does it....so pitiful. I just love when he pokes out his bottom lip!

My First Pool

Yesterday we blew up Gavin's pool, put him in his swimming gear, and enjoyed his first time in his pool. The water was cold not warm like he is use to in his baths so he wasn't too happy in the beginning. He started to enjoy it more when he got use to the water. The pictures are in backward order. Before we took him outside we were playing with him on the couch. Got some cute pics with his daddy.

I try to turn over all the time now....the other day I rolled across the room.

Here is what I wore to gymboree class.....my little monkey!

He pushes up off the floor on his belly really good now. YAY Gavin!

He is constantly rolling over on his belly but he still doesn't like to be on it so he will scream until we flip him back over.

Today Gavin and I went to his first gymboree class. We had a great time. There was only one other baby in the class...she was 4 months and bigger than Gavin....17lbs! She was adorable and Gavin couldn't keep his eyes off her. It was so cute. He never really saw a baby before. We sang, did finger puppets, tummy time in front of a mirror, rolled on a giant ball and bounced on a tiny ball, saw bubbles for the first time and watched the pretty colors of the parachute. There was a ton of singing which I didn't know any of the songs and mommy talk which was fun to share stories. I wasn't able to get any pics because it was just Gavin and I at the class....daddy had to work. I did take some pics of him before we left for class. We got him a cute little monkey outfit the other day so thats what he wore....here are the pics.

Gavin tasted baby food for the first time today (4/26/10). He made the craziest face but Ben wasn't fast enough to get it. It was apple sauce so it wasn't anything crazy new yet. He gets apple juice in his cereal but I think the texture threw him for a loop. He ate almost all of it but was sleepy so began to fuss at the end. Here is my little green goblin stuffing everything in his mouth he could possibly get his hands on. I felt a tooth wanting to come in on his bottom gums. Along with all this cuteness comes sleepless nights, bottles he doesn't want to drink, a little fever and a whole lotta temper! Gavin's Doctor Appt.

Gavin went to his doctor appt. today. He is now 12lbs 13oz and 24.5 inches long. He had 3 shots today and has been grumpy ever since. His doctor said she was impressed with his motor skills and he seems to be growing well. He is such a sweetie even when he is cranky. lol

6 Months Old!

Gavin is 6 months now! He is trying to roll from his back to his belly but hasn't quite mastered it yet. He does 360s on his belly and wants to sit up and see everything instead of laying in my arms. He will transfer a toy from one hand to the other and shake his rattle. He turns to you when you call his name. He has been eating rice cereal mixed with apple juice and water. Today we bought him his first jar baby food. I can't wait to see which ones he likes and don't like and all the funny faces that come with it. The pollen is falling all over the yard and every time we take him outside he sneezes 3 times exactly. His sneezes are so cute especially when you mess one up he lets out this little sigh and smiles. He experienced his first car wash today. He would quiet down and look out the windows when the water, soap, and wind hit the car and made loud noises. He is on a schedule at night which includes eating his cereal, taking a bath, drinking his bottle and going to sleep. I try to start all this around 6:30-7:00pm. He has been waking up around 4-5am....I miss him sleeping later but I think he might be teething now. He wants to put everything in his mouth and omg the slobber! He also enjoys touching faces or trying to stick his hand in my mouth when I'm rocking him to sleep. He is growing up too fast! I just try to take it all in now and savor it.

Easter morning......Baskets, grass, candy, and toys everywhere! Gavin's basket was full of some yummy candy Ben and I had to enjoy for him, a Yo Gabba Gabba Dvd...he loves that show, an Easter book, a little hopping chick, a stuffed wooly sheep, and some panda plates.

Emmy, Bay, and their new puppy Sprocket....Paris their other puppy was probably running around terrorizing my three snobby brats. They started to get along towards the end of the weekend.

My First Easter 2010

Here are a few pics of Gavin's first Easter and egg hunt....there will be more to come...there were about 4 cameras trying to capture it all. These are some of the pics my cousin Tony took. They were really good and are on my mother computer so pulling a late night trying to get them uploaded to the blog before we leave in a few hours to go back to Pensacola. We had a blast this Easter! Gavin enjoyed everyone and we appreciate all the help from the family and will miss it! haha More pics to come!

News Flash!

Gavin turned over all by himself on April 2, 2010 from his belly to his back.....5 months old. YAY Gavin! He did this maybe 30 minutes after his daddy arrived to my mom's house. I was so happy Ben didn't miss him turning over for the first time. Of course that is the only thing in his life so far that I haven't captured with the camera.
